Whitefriars shopping centre in Canterbury have opened there all-knew Santa’s Grotto.
Loads of families have been waiting at Whitefriars square in the city centre for the chance to meet Santa. For four pound children get to meet Santa and receive a commemorative certificate and Christmas gift.
Santa’s elf and helper Laura Martin said: “It’s been really good and hectic. It’s really Christmassy with all the kids coming along to meet Santa, it’s got me in the spirit”.
A spokesman for Whitefriars, Martyn Barr said: “We’ve worked hard to make a visit to the Grotto a real experience for children and their families, with a warm welcome from Santa’s elves, a craft activity, story, an opportunity to meet with Santa and quality gift to go away with”.
Abbie Keen, 20 from Canterbury took her son Kobi along to see Santa.
She said: “He loved seeing Santa, I wasn’t sure how he would take it, but he smiled and kept pulling at his beard”.
Also being held in Whitefriars is the the Christmas market, where there is over 40 cabins selling a range of items from seasonal produce, to toys and decorations, this is the city’s biggest Christmas market to date. Which is promised to be ‘bigger and better than ever’.
The Grotto is open from 11am to 5pm Sunday to Friday and 10.30am to 5pm on Saturdays.
